Overview
We are seeking a Senior Node.js Contractor to join a dynamic and fast-growing digital business located in the UK. In this hybrid role, you will collaborate with a high-performing product team to build and evolve high-scale backend services using Node.js and TypeScript, while also contributing to architectural decisions and mentoring fellow engineers. The position is ideal for seasoned professionals with a strong polyglot background willing to tackle complex engineering challenges.
Responsibilities
- Build and evolve high-scale backend services with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Design clean, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Platform teams.
- Contribute to architecture and technical decision-making.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code.
- Mentor engineers and drive engineering best practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
- Experience building distributed, cloud-native applications.
- A polyglot mindset with exposure to languages like Java, Go, Python, C#, or Kotlin.
- Strong understanding of APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience working within modern Agile product teams.
