Overview
The role of Product Engineer focuses on developing backend systems for a cutting-edge commercial platform in the energy and trading sector. The successful contractor will work within a small, highly skilled engineering team, taking ownership of complex billing, pricing, and transactional systems while leveraging a modern technology stack including Python, TypeScript, and AWS. This position offers the chance to tackle intricate engineering challenges and influence technical direction simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services primarily using Python.
- Build scalable functionality for billing and pricing platforms.
- Develop APIs and workflows to handle high volumes of transactions.
- Model complex business rules and financial calculations.
- Collaborate closely with Product teams to create solutions from the ground up.
- Contribute to front-end development using TypeScript as needed.
- Enhance the reliability, scalability, and engineering practices of the platform as it evolves.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python with experience in production-grade applications.
- Experience in building billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Background in the Energy sector, Utilities, Commodity Trading, or Financial Trading is preferred.
- Familiarity with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- A proactive product mindset with significant ownership in previous roles.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is beneficial.
