Overview
We are seeking a Senior Backend Python Engineer to join a dynamic team in the renewable energy sector, specializing in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This fully remote, 12-month contract role focuses on the development of technology that enhances energy efficiency and flexibility. You will work alongside cross-functional teams to build and maintain scalable backend solutions for energy trading and optimization applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop scalable backend services to support automated energy trading and high-frequency battery telemetry.
- Design and implement cloud-native services using Python and modern backend technologies.
- Collaborate with engineering and energy operations teams to process real-time data from battery assets.
- Contribute to the architectural direction and engineering best practices for distributed systems.
- Implement observability metrics for performance and reliability enhancements.
- Utilize technologies such as FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Kafka/Pulsar, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Backend Engineer with strong Python development skills.
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or renewable energy technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud-native applications and microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of real-time data processing and high-volume data systems.
- Proficiency in using CI/CD practices and tools.
- Experience in systems optimization and performance tuning.
