Overview
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer for a 12-month contract role that offers a hybrid working arrangement—two days in Belfast and three days remotely. This position requires a hands-on technical testing expert with a strong background in C#/.NET and the ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers to maintain high-quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Review C#/.NET applications and code for quality and testability.
- Collaborate with developers to identify potential quality issues early in the development process.
- Challenge technical decisions that hinder testability or maintainability.
- Ensure compliance with established testing standards and practices.
- Conduct unit, component, integration, and acceptance testing.
- Identify discrepancies between the agreed testing approach and the actual outcomes.
- Support QA and engineering teams during high delivery periods.
- Maintain high quality across multiple development teams with a high level of autonomy.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience in C#/.NET development.
- Background as a Software Engineer in Test (SDET) or quality engineering.
- Ability to read and critique production C# code effectively.
- Proficient in automated testing and modern testing practices.
- Experience with unit, component, integration, and acceptance testing.
- Confident in collaborating with experienced software engineers.
- Technical depth to articulate quality or testability issues effectively.
- Familiarity with NUnit and SpecFlow is beneficial, alongside broader C#/.NET testing experience.
