Security Engineer

Overview

The IT Security Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the security infrastructure of a public sector organization by monitoring threats and vulnerabilities. This position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure the integrity and security of systems, with a strong focus on the utilization of Wazuh and other SIEM tools. The contractor will primarily work remotely but must be capable of occasional travel to the London office and be available for on-call duties on a rotational basis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct threat and vulnerability monitoring using Wazuh and other SIEM tools.
  • Perform risk assessments and implement appropriate security measures.
  • Collaborate with teams to develop and strengthen security controls and processes.
  • Respond to security incidents and provide detailed analysis and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with security frameworks such as ISO27001 and NIST.
  • Maintain awareness of current security threats and best practices.

Requirements

  • Valid SC Clearance is required for this role.
  • Proven experience in security operations roles and vulnerability management.
  • Strong proficiency with Wazuh and familiarity with other SIEM tools like Splunk.
  • Experience with StreamAlert or similar monitoring solutions is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of security frameworks like ISO27001, NIST, or Cyber Essentials.
  • Ability to articulate complex security concepts effectively.
  • Comfortable with remote work and occasional travel to the London office.
