Overview
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with expertise in Rust and Python to join a fully remote team for a 12-month contract. The successful candidate will be instrumental in building and evolving backend services, modernizing the engineering ecosystem, and decommissioning legacy components while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build and enhance backend services that reduce operational costs through automation and process optimization.
- Develop scalable Rust and Python-based services and APIs that support candidate acquisition and onboarding workflows.
- Design, build, and maintain distributed systems with significant contributions in Rust or Java.
- Drive technical requirements and take ownership of complex engineering initiatives from design through delivery.
- Lead the migration of legacy Ruby on Rails functionality into modern service-oriented architectures.
- Produce clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to uphold high engineering standards.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and GraphQL services, along with integrations with third-party platforms.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability to enhance platform reliability and performance.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience in Rust or Python development, preferably using Django or FastAPI.
- Proven ability to work across multiple languages and adapt to unfamiliar codebases swiftly.
- Experience in designing and building scalable backend services and distributed systems.
- Strong background in designing and consuming RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
- Familiarity with database systems like PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Redis, including database optimization.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and modern software engineering practices.
- Understanding of testing methodologies, observability, performance optimization, and production monitoring.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
