Overview
The Senior Data Architect will play a critical role in designing and implementing a greenfield data platform for a leading technology consultancy. Collaborating with data engineers, technical leads, and client stakeholders, the contractor will take ownership of the platform architecture, focusing on scalable solutions utilizing Azure and Databricks. This position requires a seasoned professional who can lead design reviews and influence key technical decisions while ensuring modern data governance standards are met.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end architecture of a new Azure data platform.
- Design a scalable Databricks-based lakehouse architecture.
- Define data modeling, governance frameworks, and architectural standards.
- Collaborate with data engineers and technical leads to ensure effective implementation.
- Lead design reviews and whiteboarding sessions with key stakeholders.
- Guide engineering teams through technical decision-making processes.
- Foster client discussions to align project goals with deliverables.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with Azure cloud services and Databricks.
- Proven track record in designing and delivering greenfield data platforms.
- Strong knowledge of data governance and modern DataOps practices.
- Ability to lead client discussions confidently.
- Experience with medallion or lakehouse architectures is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with data modeling techniques and frameworks.
