Transition Project Manager

Overview

The Transition Project Manager will be responsible for leading the end-to-end transition and exit of services as part of a client engagement. This role requires the successful candidate to ensure planning, governance, compliance, and stakeholder management throughout the exit process while coordinating with various teams including legal, commercial, and operational stakeholders. The position focuses on delivering a seamless operational handover and ensuring all contractual obligations are met during the transition.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage programme governance for the exit.
  • Lead compliance activities ensuring contractual obligations are met.
  • Define and develop integrated transition plans involving customer and new suppliers.
  • Coordinate knowledge transfer and oversee operational handovers.
  • Engage with senior customer stakeholders and manage internal delivery teams.
  • Manage RAID, dependency, and change registers, ensuring effective reporting.
  • Present progress and risks at Steering Committees and Executive Boards.
  • Drive operational acceptance and early life support activities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in leading large-scale Managed Service exits or service transitions.
  • Demonstrable skills as an Exit Manager, Transition Manager, or Senior Programme Manager.
  • Experience with complex contractual transitions valued over £10m.
  • Strong expertise in governance, planning, and risk management.
  • Knowledge in managing knowledge transfer and operational handover activities.
  • Commercial and contractual awareness in supplier environments.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications in ITIL, MSP/Prince2, or Agile methodologies are desirable.
