Overview
The Grid Construction Supervisor will oversee day-to-day construction and installation activities related to grid connection and electrical infrastructure for renewable energy projects. This role involves coordinating various subcontractors and specialist teams, ensuring that all work aligns with project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements. The position is suited for experienced professionals looking to contribute to significant renewable energy initiatives within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily grid connection and electrical infrastructure works on renewable energy projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors and specialist contractors involved in grid and substation activities.
- Oversee construction and installation of substations, grid connections, and power evacuation systems.
- Monitor installation work against approved drawings and project requirements.
- Ensure effective sequencing of grid infrastructure works with solar PV and civil teams.
- Conduct regular site inspections to maintain quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures and project RAMS.
- Support testing, commissioning, and energisation activities for projects.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in site supervision within electrical, energy, or infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record in supervising grid connection and substation activities.
- Experience in renewable energy or power generation projects, particularly solar PV.
- Strong knowledge of grid connection and power evacuation infrastructure.
- Familiarity with HV/MV substations, transformers, and associated electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary construction teams.
- Relevant site qualifications such as SSSTS/SMSTS and ECS/CSCS are advantageous.
