Overview

In the role of Head of Infrastructure / Head of IT, you will provide strategic direction and technical leadership within a dynamic retail environment. This position is tailored for candidates with extensive experience in the retail sector, particularly in organizations with a turnover exceeding £200 million. You will be responsible for guiding your team in technology implementation and service delivery while engaging closely with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Design, configure, and maintain hybrid infrastructure to integrate on-premise and cloud services.
  • Manage a diverse Windows and Apple endpoint estate, ensuring efficient endpoint management.
  • Act as the technical lead on Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and identity management solutions.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues in infrastructure, networking, and security.
  • Implement cybersecurity controls and oversee disaster recovery and backup solutions.
  • Introduce modern service management practices with business-focused KPIs to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to enhance technology adoption across operations.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a senior IT leader in a retail environment with turnover over £300 million.
  • Hands-on technical experience as a Systems Administrator, Infrastructure Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of hybrid cloud solutions and on-premise infrastructure management.
  • Experience managing Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and identity management platforms.
  • Expertise in administering Windows and Apple environments, including Microsoft Intune and JAMF.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts including routing, switching, and security protocols.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and disaster recovery planning.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python is desirable.
