Overview

The Lead Electrical Engineer will oversee the electrical scope for multiple major water frameworks, focusing on technical delivery and team management. This role requires an experienced engineer to ensure high-quality engineering outcomes across all design and delivery stages, while driving engineering excellence and coordinating multi-disciplinary interfaces. The position is contracted long-term and operates outside IR35 regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of the electrical engineering scope across multiple projects.
  • Manage schedules, MDRs, change control, reporting, and technical coordination.
  • Delegate and oversee work packages within the electrical team.
  • Support estimating activities including CTR development.
  • Provide technical leadership across all deliverables, including Basis of Design and power systems.
  • Prepare requisitions for HV/LV equipment, including switchgear and transformers.
  • Review supplier quotations and complete technical bid assessments.
  • Develop installation scopes of work and ensure compliance with UK/international standards.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or working towards).
  • Strong knowledge of UK standards and legislation.
  • Experience in regulated environments, including explosive atmospheres.
  • Knowledge of CE marking requirements (ATEX, PED, LV Directive, Machinery Directive, EMC compliance).
  • Strong understanding of HSE and risk management principles.
  • Proven experience in managing electrical engineering projects in water infrastructure.
