Overview
This project manager role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a National Grid 400kV project focused on high voltage infrastructure. The contractor will manage civil phases of the project while collaborating closely with subcontractors and various stakeholders to ensure successful execution. The position is expected to commence immediately and is structured as an outside IR35 engagement, offering the chance to significantly impact the development of a crucial energy network.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day operations during the civil phase, ensuring project milestones and deadlines are achieved.
- Coordinate and liaise effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project progression.
- Ensure compliance with NEC contract requirements, manage contractual obligations, and mitigate associated risks.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and documentation, providing updates as necessary.
- Address and resolve site-based issues, upholding safety and quality standards at all times.
- Support planning and scheduling activities to optimise resource and material allocation.
- Promote health, safety, and environmental standards across the site.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing high voltage projects, preferably within national grid or equivalent infrastructure.
- Strong civil engineering background relevant to large-scale construction projects.
- Proven experience managing projects under NEC contracts.
- Regular on-site presence, ideally averaging three days per week.
- Experience with subcontractor management and cable works is advantageous.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Relevant professional certifications in project management or civil engineering are beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with diverse teams.
