Overview
The Senior Data Consultant will oversee the management, protection, and governance of business data within a designated domain. This role serves as a crucial link between business users and technical data teams, ensuring that data policies and governance are effectively implemented. Successful candidates will have a blend of technical data expertise and operational governance knowledge, necessary for collaborating with various stakeholders and enhancing data management practices.
Responsibilities
- Act as the Senior Data Consultant for an assigned business domain, developing an understanding of data lifecycle management.
- Create and maintain data catalogues, dictionaries, glossaries, and related metadata.
- Define and uphold business policies regarding data classification, retention, and archiving.
- Monitor and validate data backup and recovery processes, ensuring effective controls are in place.
- Manage data access controls, balancing user access needs with data security requirements.
- Support data governance initiatives, fostering understanding and compliance across stakeholders.
- Conduct data audits and assist in monitoring activities, including access and classification reviews.
- Collaborate with Data Architects and Engineers to align governance requirements with technical controls.
Requirements
- Proven experience in data architecture, engineering, analysis, or management.
- Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and data management in Microsoft 365.
- Familiarity with SharePoint and Power Automate relative to data workflows.
- Knowledge of data cataloguing and documentation practices.
- Understanding of backup, recovery, and data protection frameworks.
- Experience with access controls and data classification standards.
- Previous exposure to audit and compliance processes in data management.
