Overview
The Senior DevOps Engineer will play a pivotal role in the mobile platform team by overseeing the AWS environment for a UK government app. This contract position involves writing and managing infrastructure as code using CloudFormation and Terraform, while also mentoring junior engineers and establishing best practices for the team. The engineer will largely work remotely, with occasional in-person collaboration in London.
Responsibilities
- Manage the AWS environment for the app and its supporting services.
- Write and maintain infrastructure as code using CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Manage services such as Lambda, API Gateway, KMS, and WAF.
- Lead the implementation of SigV4 authentication and standardize practices within the team.
- Review and guide the work of junior engineers by providing technical oversight.
- Make informed technical decisions in response to infrastructure queries from team members.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with AWS and managing cloud environments.
- Strong skills in infrastructure as code, specifically with CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, KMS, and WAF.
- Familiarity with SigV4 authentication and its implementation.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical decision-making.
