Overview
The Commissioning Engineer will join a major UK power infrastructure project focused on the installation of 132kV cables and substations. This contractor role involves overseeing electrical safety and managing high voltage (HV) cable installation and testing activities while ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The engineer will collaborate closely with project teams to execute switching operations and documentation tasks effectively.
Responsibilities
- Control electrical safety throughout the project.
- Support HV cable installation and jointing activities.
- Lead SAP duties during HV testing and commissioning.
- Manage switching operations, isolations, permits, and safety documentation.
- Ensure compliance with NGED electrical safety rules.
Requirements
- 132kV Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation.
- NGED SAP authorisation (highly desirable).
- Proven experience on HV cable and substation projects.
- GIS substation experience.
- HV switching and isolation experience.
- Permit-to-Work and Sanction for Test experience.
- Previous experience supporting cable installation, jointing, testing, and energisation.
