Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Overview

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will play a pivotal role in a major Defence & National Security programme, focusing on the design, build, maintenance, and enhancement of secure infrastructure environments. The successful candidate will work in a highly secure technical setting, engaging with modern virtualization and cloud technologies while collaborating closely with engineering, architecture, and delivery teams within Agile methodologies. This hands-on role necessitates active UK DV clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work involved.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain complex infrastructure environments.
  • Support Windows and Linux server estates in secure environments.
  • Work with VMware technologies including vSphere, vCenter, and VCF.
  • Manage public, private, and hybrid cloud infrastructures, such as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
  • Implement security measures by maintaining, patching, and hardening infrastructure.
  • Support Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms.
  • Automate operational processes utilizing Ansible, PowerShell, and Terraform.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and respond to security alerts as needed.

Requirements

  • Active UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance is essential.
  • Experience with Windows Server 2016+ and Linux (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
  • Familiarity with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and VCF.
  • Experience in managing Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365.
  • Knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in networking and identity management technologies.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, PowerShell, and Terraform.
  • Understanding of Secure by Design principles and Agile delivery environments.
