Overview
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to take on a leadership role in managing the infrastructure and platform of an Azure-based SaaS platform. This remote-first position will involve occasional travel for team and customer sessions, and offers a chance to make a significant impact on a growing platform that serves major contractors and public sector organizations. The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience with Azure and Terraform, alongside active SC clearance, to help improve the platform's infrastructure and enhance its operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Own the Azure infrastructure estate across UK, EU, and Australian environments.
- Design, build, and maintain modular Terraform infrastructure as code.
- Establish and enforce the GitOps deployment model as the exclusive route to production.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, including self-hosted runners.
- Lead the decommissioning of the residual AWS estate.
- Implement load and performance testing, including auto-scaling solutions.
- Document the infrastructure estate comprehensively, including architecture and runbooks.
- Mentor the team to reduce direct production access for developers.
Requirements
- Active SC clearance, currently held.
- Deep, hands-on experience with Azure services at production scale, including App Service and Azure SQL.
- Expertise in Terraform, with experience in refactoring poorly structured infrastructures.
- Proficient in building Azure DevOps pipelines with self-hosted agents and Git.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell or Bash, with knowledge of Linux and Windows Server.
- Experience in load/performance testing and disaster recovery planning.
- Solid understanding of security practices, including secrets management and encryption.
- A strong record of writing clear, comprehensive documentation.
